The Black Feather is a contemporary classic that’s peachy sweet but balanced, boozy but elegant and exactly what BarChick will be drinking just before home time
Sexy: the Black Feather is surprisingly light for a brandy drink

The drink: The Black Feather

The bar name: Machine No. 3

What's in it? Armagnac, Lillet Blanc, triple sec, peach bitters and garnished with a lemon zest.

Why should we try it? Inspired by a guy called Robert Hess, an American cocktail expert, these guys have switched Cognac for Armagnac to show that not all brandy drinks have to be heavy-goers. A contemporary classic that’s peachy sweet but balanced, boozy but elegant and exactly what we’ll be drinking just before home time. If you’re into your Old Fashioned then we reckon you’ll be into this one, It’s a sipper and a tasty one at that. Oh and did we mention it’s garnished with a real black feather? Sexy.

1/65

Where do we get it? A converted old laundry. We kid you not! From the same sibling duo that brought us The Three Compasses, Lauren and Antony Johns have cleaned out a dilapidated laundry and created a hot cocktail den just on the corner of Well Street. They’ve managed to keep an essence of the past in the bathrooms where washing machine covers cover the walls - excellent date chat if you need it. Alongside great drinks from cocktail expert Robin Summers, they’ve also got a great list of craft beers and organic wines served alongside snacks like locally-sourced cheese and charcuterie. The vibe is low-lit, sexy and just want you want from a neighbourhood joint.

Who do we ask for? Robin Summers, he’s got six years industry experience behind him and knows a thing or two about European and American craft beer culture.

How much is it? £8.

Find it: Machine No. 3, 271, Well Street, Homerton E9 6RG
