BarChick's cocktail of the week: Hot Flat White Russian at London Grind

This caffeinated glass of goodness will get your night off to a buzzing start
Boozy caffeinated creaminess: the Hot Flat White Russian

The Drink: Hot Flat White Russian

What's in it? Grind House Espresso, Reyka Vodka, Kahlua and steamed milk.

Why should we try it? What do you get if you cross a Flat White with a White Russian? THIS cup of boozy caffeinated creaminess, that’s what. London is buzzing this week - that’ll be all the caffeine from London Coffee Week - but BarChick prefer their coffee with different kind of kick: Reyka Vodka. The Grind House Espresso used across all Grind venues is roasted daily in small batches and it has a rich, almost chocolatey taste, lending itself perfectly to cocktails. If you like sugar in your coffee, don’t fear; the Kahlua adds a sweet syrup flavour to this drink which further enhances the sweeter notes of the coffee. The warm milk is steamed to perfection and layered on the top. Flat White fan? Your coffee just got a whole lot more interesting.

Where do we get it? The guys that brought us London’s first coffee hangout-cum-cocktail den have had massive success in Shoreditch, Soho and Holborn. In 2015 the latest Grind landed in SE1 and this one is bigger and better than anything you’ve seen. Just like its bros, the coffee beans in London Grind are to die for and make kickass Espresso Martinis, Espresso Old Fashioneds and bourbon-spiked pecan coffees. You’ll be buzzing ‘til the early hours from their boozy, boutique custom blend. If you’re off the caffeine, there’s still a place for you here: the list of cocktails is killer and they shake up one of the meanest Negronis this side of the river. London Grind is rocking the kitchen too. Serving brunch right up to 11pm, you can get your Hot Flat White Russian on with a side of one-pan eggs with spinach and pistachio.
