New opening: The 12 Hay Hill club

An exclusive business and private members club offering £6,000-a-month serviced desk space and a restaurant run by a Michelin-starred chef is to open in Mayfair.

The 12 Hay Hill club, which overlooks Berkeley Square, will be run by Crown Equerry and royal wedding planner Simon Robinson. Organisers say it will offer London’s “business elite” the ability to “work and play under one roof”.

For £1,000 per desk per month, members will get space in the newly renovated Mayfair building. A minimum of six desks must be taken. Administrative staff are provided and members get free access to the club’s social areas. For £150 a month plus a £500 joining fee, social members will have access to a ground floor bar and lounge with hot-desking space, a gym with shower facilities and cigar terrace on the third floor.

There will also be a basement restaurant and bar. The identity of the chef has yet to be revealed but he or she is apparently “making their entrance into the London market for the first time”. Hay Hill CEO Simon Robinson will be joined by Julien Marinozzi, previously at Conduit Street restaurant Sketch, as operations director. Mr Robinson said: “12 Hay Hill aims to take business clubs to a new level. Where else in London could an office have access to a restaurant run by a Michelin-starred chef and a balcony overlooking Berkeley Square, for the same price as a dull, grey serviced office down the road? People don’t want stale, airport lounge-style space. They want somewhere to work, play, entertain and socialise all in one place.”

He expects all memberships to have been snapped up well before the opening next February. The restaurants and bars will open in March.
