In the green: Mazie Barnes flies a Kite in Greenwich Park flower gardens

New website parklifelondon.org has developed an interactive map of London's parks designed to help everyone find a nearby patch of grass. Have a play with it below.

The map, which is an initiative of the City Bridge Trust, the City of London Corporation's charity, includes big, well-known parks, but can also point more adventurous types in the direction of London's local oases and more obscure enclaves.

It also includes information about park-based community projects and volunteering opportunities people can get involved in, and themed suggestions for the best places for peace and quiet, dog-walking and historic interest.

At the moment the focus is on four boroughs - City of London, Lambeth, Hackney and Camden - but the hope is that users will contribute to the site to help broaden its coverage.

So when the temperature eventually starts creeping up again, log on and get out.
