The Henley Regatta made its grand return to the riverbanks of Oxfordshire earlier this week.

One of the most glamorous events of the season, the five-day event sees guests arriving dressed to impress for the hundreds of races on show.

Established in 1893, the Regatta attracts thousands of guests every year as they're treated to more than 200 rowing races over the five days.

With the event now in its third day, here's everything you need to know about one of the world's most prestigious regattas.

When is Henley Regatta 2019?

This year, the Henley Regatta started on Wednesday, July 3 and will run until Sunday, July 7.

There is, and you can find it here. It changes by the day, so make sure you keep an eye on it.

Do you need tickets to watch the Regatta?

Yes - the Regatta owns most of the riverbank and parking area on the Oxfordshire side as well as a portion of the opposite Buckinghamshire side.

So while you may be able to catch a glimpse of the action through just passing by, for the best views it’s advised that you purchase a ticket.

The Stewards’ Enclosure

Situated on the Berkshire bank, the Stewards’ Enclosure is reserved for members and their guests only.

Some tickets for the Stewards’ Enclosure are still available and you can purchase them here.

The Regatta Enclosure

The Regatta Enclosure is located on the Berkshire bank, just downstream from the Stewards’ Enclosure, and is open to competitors, supporters and the general public.

Saturday tickets have sold out, although some tickets for today and Sunday are still on sale here.

Is there parking at Henley Regatta 2019?

Yes – daily car parking labels are available for purchase prior to the event here.

There are also good public transport links to Henley town centre. Trains from London Paddington run approximately every half hour, with connecting service through Twyford or Reading.

What is the Henley Regatta dress code?

The Henley Regatta is famed for its formal dress code, and this year is sure to be no different.

Male guests for the Stewards’ Enclosure are required to wear suits or a blazer and flannel trousers and women are obliged to wear below-the-knee dresses, no trousers, culottes or divided skirts.

There’s no dress code for the Regatta Enclosure, although people usually come dressed up to the nines anyway.

What time are the races on the River Thames?

Hundreds of races take place throughout the Regatta.
