Harry Potter in London: Spellbinding Potter themed things to do in London

Unless you’ve traded a Daniel Radcliffe autograph or are, you know, J K Rowling’s kid, chances are you don’t have tickets to see Cursed Child — tickets sold out faster than a Firebolt (as used by the Irish and Bulgarian Quidditch teams in the 1994 World Cup, FYI).

Luckily, London is full of themed activities for potty fans. Avoid the tourists pretending to march straight into the brick wall at King’s Cross’s Platform 9 ¾ and have a wizard time wandering through these spell-binding Potter attractions.

House of MinaLima exhibition

26 Greek Street, W1. Today and tomorrow

This pop-up exhibition by graphic artists Mina and Lima displays some of the truly magnificent contemporary art of our times: the graphic designs from the Harry Potter film sets. It includes Azkaban wanted posters, copies of the Daily Prophet, the Marauder’s Map and Hogwarts textbooks. Millennials who have never got over the trauma suffered on their 11th birthday when the Hogwarts acceptance letter didn’t come can finally get over the pain: the excellent gift shop gives you the chance to have your own invitation to the wizarding world.

Play Quidditch

Hampstead Heath. Every Saturday

No flying broomstick? No problem. You can still channel your inner seeker at one of London’s Quidditch clubs. The purple-uniformed London Unspeakables team, who play every Saturday on Hampstead Heath, describe it as a cross between rugby, dodgeball and tag. The Unspeakables are set to take on rivals The Werewolves of London at the Lambeth County Show on July 17.

Fifteen years later Warner Bros studio tour

Watford, from July 22

Any true Pottermaniac will have already posed inside the flying car and sipped Butterbeer at the Warner Bros studio tour at least twice. But head back again this year for special events to mark the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. From July 22, you’ll get the chance to learn how the special effects were created. And the Devil’s Snare exhibit offers the chance to reminisce over when Ron and Hermione were nearly strangled to death in a pile of murderous weeds. Beats Tinder.
