Thrill seekers have been stuck inside for months, but that’s all about to change – as well as Alton Towers welcoming back guests, there’s a brand new theme park opening to the public this week.

Gulliver’s Valley is a £37million development in South Yorkshire, which is opening its doors for the first time on Saturday.

The new site is set across 250 acres of the Rother Valley Country Park, featuring 26 rides and two on-site restaurants.

The park will operate under social distancing regulations, with guests asked to wear masks on rides and the park operating at a reduced capacity – and tickets must be booked in advance, too.

It’s the newest of five resorts operated by the Gulliver’s group, which also runs the Kingdom Resort in Derbyshire, Dinosaur & Farm Park in Buckinghamshire and Land Resort in Buckinghamshire.

The site was originally due to open in the spring, but progress was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Julie Dalton, managing director at Gulliver's Valley, said: "From bigger rides through to smaller rides, we are caring for that family market. Everything has been thought out so the whole family can enjoy their visit.

"The prime reason for choosing South Yorkshire was because of the people. What we saw when we came here is it is a really friendly group of people."
