Bands are being invited to take part in an art installation inspired by the final scenes of Bruce Lee’s classic martial arts movie Enter The Dragon.

The ICA is looking for 30 sets of performers to take part in the “mutating sound sculpture” to be created in its theatre by Chinese artist Zhang Ding.

The 35-year-old artist and heavy metal fan will build a mirrored set emulating the hall in the 1973 film where Lee’s Shaolin martial arts expert defeats the mysterious suspected drug trafficker Mr Han, played by Shih Kien.

The set will include two stages where rival musicians will perform at the same time. This is not meant to be competitive but “a platform for cooperative improvisation, experimentation and self-reflection”. But it does echo the conflict seen in the film.

Enter The Dragon will run from October 12 to 25. More information.
