Champions League final 2019: The best outdoor screenings and pubs to watch Tottenham vs Liverpool in London

1/7

Thousands of English football fans will be making the trip to Madrid to cheer on Tottenham and Liverpool this weekend, with the Champions League final taking place at 8pm (BST) on Saturday June 1.

It's the most high-profile fixture in club football, and this Saturday's game also marks the first all-English tie in 11 years, since Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties in 2008.

Both sides go into the game following miraculous semi-final victories. Liverpool overturned a three-goal deficit against Barcelona in the second leg, while Tottenham also scored three goals in the second half of their away tie with Ajax to make it through to the final.

Saturday’s game is being played at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, which usually plays host to Atletico Madrid. Football fans don’t have make to make the trip to Spain to enjoy the game in the sunshine though. A selection of venues across London are putting on outdoor screenings on Saturday, welcoming fans to enjoy the game in the evening sun.

If you can't make it to an outside screening, you can’t beat the pub — always packed to the rafters on big match days, the atmosphere is only second to at the game itself. Plenty of great places in the capital will be showing the game, and we've picked out a selection below.

First up, these are some of the best outdoor screenings taking place across the city, with tickets still available at the time of publishing. If you’re watching as a neutral, we’ve also chosen some of the best football pubs in the capital.

Outdoor screenings

Dinerama

Dinerama: A 10 hour Field Day party is heading to Shoreditch

The game will be shown on big screens at Dinerama, as well as sister venue Hawker House in Canada Water. The former is one of east London's best party spaces, with dozens of street food spots, a fantastic atmosphere, and live DJs, so expect it to be heaving come kick-off. Head upstairs, where the venue is showing the game on three screens.

Pitch Stratford

Pitch Stratford are going all out to celebrate the final on Saturday, by hosting an all-day event on their outdoor terrace. Expect DJs, and collaborations with hip hop party specialists Chicken ‘n’ Beer from midday on Saturday, before showing the game on its 192-inch outdoor screen. Tickets for the event are priced at £15, which gets you guaranteed entry before 5pm, as well as a free pint and a portion of fried chicken or fries.

Brixton Jamm

Brixton Jamm is showing the game on its courtyard beach screen, and promises to be a great option come Saturday. The venue comes into its own in the summer, so may offer one of the very best atmospheres in the city by kick-off. Jamm claims it has the biggest screen in south London, and the venue itself is certainly one of the best party spots in Brixton. Tickets are £5, which guarantee fans a seat.

Flat Iron Square

Always a south London crowd-pleaser, London Bridge’s Flat Iron Square is getting in on the action this Saturday. Just as hundreds of England fans packed the place out last summer, Spurs and Liverpool fans are expected to turn up in their droves to watch the game. Expect three outdoor bars keeping punters in drink, as well as plenty of fantastic street food to soak it all up. Tickets for the event initially sold out, although the venue is making extra passes available from 5pm on Thursday. Bear in mind that entry won't be granted without a pre-bought ticket, which cost £5.50, and doors open at 5pm on Saturday.

Boxpark

The Boxparks in Croydon and Shoreditch proved themselves as two of the rowdiest places to watch the World Cup last summer, and now Boxpark Wembley is getting in on the act too. The new complex is hosting a screening of the game on Saturday, with pitchers of beer and excellent street food options all round. Although not technically outside, the clear roof and cavernous size makes it the ideal place to catch the action – just don’t be surprised if you get covered in upended beer after the final whistle. The sites in Shoreditch and Croydon are showing the action too.

Wonderfest

FEST Camden hosted some of the best World Cup screenings in north London last summer, and now the organisers are hosting football fans for the Champions League final in its brand new venue Wonderfest. The Stables Market spot is a relaxed Summer House-style hideout during the day, but it’s bound to be a bit livelier when the Spurs and Liverpool fans pack in on Saturday. Entry is free, but fans are recommended to get down early to secure a place.

Pubs, bars and clubs

We’ve picked out some of the city’s finest boozers to watch the match in. Some are based around the Tottenham area and therefore popular with Spurs fans. The others are often taken over by London’s Liverpool supporters, frequented by official supporters clubs and regularly mentioned on fan forums as popular with Reds in the capital.
