Brixton Splash celebrates its 10th birthday on Sunday as the ever-growing street music festival returns.

The one-day festival, which has been referred to as “south London’s answer to the Notting Hill Carnival”, aims to celebrate the area’s cultural diversity and community spirit.

The Main Stage in Windrush Square – upon which Katy B once performed – will stage performances by local musicians, from genres such as reggae, indie rock and house.

There will also be sound systems dotted around the site.

Elsewhere, traditional Caribbean food will be served from street stalls alongside other world cuisines, while there will also be a Arts and Family Village.

Founded in 2005, the festival now attracts around 20,000 people each year.

It is run by a not-for-profit organisation which, for the rest of the year, delivers a community outreach programme, providing arts access for children in local schools and other cultural activities in the community.

Brixton Splash runs from midday to 7pm on Sunday August 2 and entry is free.
