A major Oktoberfest celebration will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this year.

The Erdinger Oktoberfest will be based close to the Aquatics Centre and the ArcelorMittal Orbit. It follows the success of the beer brand’s debut event last year in Greenwich, which was visited by 30,000 Londoners.

For 2018, German brewer Erdinger Weissbräu will build a traditional Bavarian beer hall and fun fair, which will be open every Thursday to Sunday from September 27 to October 28.

The main marquee, with a capacity of 3,000, is a 16,700 square-foot replica of a 19th-century Bavarian beer hall.

Inside, there will be 220 bench tables to sit and dance on, decorated with floral garlands, plus a traditional blue and white striped roof.

There will be a live music stage for traditional bands, and more than 250,000 pints of beer, including weissbier and lager, will be shipped in from the brewery in Bavaria. There will be about 40 expert Bavarian waitresses, in traditional Dirndl dresses. Typical German food such as leberkäs (meatloaf), sauerkraut and bratwurst sausages will be served.

Werner Brombach, Erdinger owner, said: “We want to celebrate Bavarian enjoyment of life with the people and our friends of London … The British know how to appreciate a good beer.“

Tickets are from £5 for general admission, and up to £187.50 for a VIP area. They are available to buy here.
