Filipino girl group 4th Impact overcame the sudden collapse of one of their members to re-emphasise their position at the forefront of the contenders for this year’s X Factor.

Celina passed out backstage immediately before their performance of Beyonce’s Work It Out, but rallied herself to perform rather than playing a video of 4th Impact’s rehearsals.

The singer looked to be on the verge of another collapse at the end of the song, and needed a chair and water as the band listened to the judges’ criticism.

All four judges were unanimous in their praise for the singers, giving them a standing ovation.

Nick Grimshaw's praise for the four-piece group was particularly gushing, calling their performance “perfect”.

In a reference to Beyonce's former alter-ego, he said: "You grew into women before our eyes tonight. I didn’t see 4th Impact tonight, I saw four Sasha Fierces."

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was equally glowing. “That is what stars do – we suffer things like this. That says a lot about what you girls can be”, she said.

Simon Cowell praised the group too, saying: "That was, under the circumstances, one of the most incredible things we’ve seen on this show. Outstandingly good."

The X Factor continues on Sunday evening
