X Factor is back for another week and there are more than a few people hoping to croon their way to the top.

After an action-packed round of auditions last week, this weekend kicked off with a bang delivering a host of tear-jerking performances that will leave you rooting for the faces behind the stories.

The latest episode showcased a healthy dose of risk-taking performances coupled with a few personal relationships being put on the line for the fresh-faced judging panel.

Here’s our five must-see auditions from episode five:

All together now: The LMA choir impress the judges

Richard Ryan

The 25-year-old from Kidderminster, who hailed himself “far too lazy to get a real job”, quickly gripped the judges attention with his surprising song choice.

Contrary to his unassuming nature, Ryan commanded the stage with the Darkness’ I Believe In a Thing Called Love.

Winning over almost everyone’s approval, Ryan bagged three yeses for his performance with Robbie Williams congratulating him on “managing the line between cocky and confidence”.

Armstrong Martins

Martins arguably brought to the table what many hopefuls to date have failed to secure, raw originality.

Taking everyone by storm with his choice of Breaking Free from teen movie High School Musical, Martins showcased the importance of connecting with the lyrics by spinning the song on its head.

The 23-year-old youth worker earned himself four yeses, thanking his pastor for “finding the tiniest bit of gold in me and multiplying it.”

Tom Richards

This week’s position of 'comeback kid' was well and truly stolen by Richards who first auditioned for the show in 2010, the same year as judge Louis Tomlinson.

Having made it to the same stage in the competition at which One Direction were first formed, the 24-year-old told how the group’s success has stayed with him, admitting that had he made it into the band his life could have been “very different.”

After a strained performance of James Bay’s Let it Go, Richards sought redemption in Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s hit Skin leaving Tomlinson rooting for him. The Welsh singer went on to win the confidence of all the judges - except Simon Cowell.

LMA Choir

The Liverpool-bred choir spun the concept of musical theatre in a more modernised way.

Performing their rendition of Keala Settle’s This is Me, the group were praised for their “infectious chemistry”.

LMA’s powerhouse vocals and uplifting energy secured them four yeses with ease, alongside a standing ovation from both the judges and Wembley arena.

Georgia Burgess

The 20-year-old temporary recruitment worker admitted she was optimistic about leaving her “boring” job behind in pursuit of music.

Despite her evident nerves, Burgess cemented her place in the competition with her stunning take on The Jackson 5’s Who’s Loving You.

Burgess bagged herself the title of Tomlinson’s “favourite” audition of the day alongside four very-easy yeses from the panel.
