We all know what to expect from Winterwatch as it returns for a week of wildlife – but the latest series finds the UK in a concerning position.

So far it’s been a warm and wet winter, before seizing up into a cold snap – and the experts are going to be looking at how these changing weather patterns have affected the UK’s wildlife.

Based up in Scotland’s Mar Lodge Estate in the Caingorn mountains, the series once again will be hosted by Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, and Martin Hughes-Games.

With a blog post from series producer Adam White promising “behaviors that we have never seen before let alone filmed” thanks to their Eagle cams, there should be some fascinating insights into the wildlife that is too easily overlooked all around us.

Elsewhere the team will be attempting to track down the highland tiger, or Scottish wild cat – the rarest mammal in the world.

As usual, it’s not just about the presenters – the team also want to hear from viewers about the natural scenes they’ve captured in their local areas, so get snapping and sharing online to get involved.
