Paul McCartney is thought to be ‘in talks’ with ITV to join the new series of The Voice.
Show bosses are reportedly keen to land the former Beatle to add some major credibility to the forthcoming series.
According to The Sun, ITV have been trying to persuade the music superstar to come on board, despite his busy schedule.
“ITV are determined to make the show a real success when it changes channel so they are really going for it,” said a source.
“Paul McCartney is undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived so to get him signed up would be a real coup.”
The insider added: “It would the blow judges from the BBC series out of the water and would set The Voice apart as the top music contest in the world - well above X Factor or equivalents in the US.”
But it seems that McCartney isn't too keen on making his TV talent show debut as he is busy working on his own music.
“While the ITV offer has been generous, Paul really doesn't need the money and wants to focus on his own music,” the source continued.
“It's all still up in the air but The Voice really is trying to pull out all of the stops this time.”
While this year’s mentors Boy George and Paloma Faith are yet to confirm whether or not they will be making the move, ITV are reportedly keen to recruit new stars.
Both Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue are thought to have been approached about returning.
Bosses are also thought to be in talks with singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls.
