Fans of Pitch Perfect who wish there was a new film in the acapella singing series every week have no doubt been tuning in to BBC Two competition The Naked Choir.

The series sees Gareth Malone on the hunt for a killer acapella group who can combine ambitious arrangements with note-perfect harmonies, and there’s a clear favourite already emerging.

In the semi-finals the remaining groups were tasked with making a video that could go viral, and six-piece male group The Sons of Pitches (we told you it was like Pitch Perfect) raised the bar by covering Hanson’s Nineties classic MMMBop in ten different genres within two minutes.

The results are pretty spectacular – the boys try the song out in styles varying from reggae and ska to country, to James Brown-style soul. They even manage to give it a dubstep twist.

Also making it through to the final were the Stratford East Singers, who performed Naughty Boy’s Wonder in a vibrant style with a musical-style song-and-dance video, and Choral Stimulation, who covered Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand while being splashed with colourful paint.

Which will win the competition? Tune in to the final on October 27 to find out.

BBC Two, Tuesday, 9pm
