Rekha has become the first person to be eliminated from The Great British Pottery Throw Down.

Unfortunately for the wannabe potter, the judges weren’t too impressed with her strangely- shaped bowls and uneven bases.

After an emotional judging process which saw judge Keith Brymer Jones break down in tears over Jane’s bowls, Tom was named ‘Top Potter’.

The first task for the ten hopefuls was to make five bowls, each to fit inside each other, with poor Rekha being the last to finish her final pot.

While the clay was drying, the contestants were then tasked with their first ever ‘spot test’.

The amateur potters were asked by judges Kate Malone and Brymer Jones to make handles for mugs with a ‘pulling’ technique.

They had to make two sets of ten handles for mugs as quickly as possible, with some not even finishing all their handles.

Some contestants managed to see the funny side of ‘pulling’, with Joanna telling the cameras:

“There are some similarities between pottery and sex. Try pulling a handle. It’s very rude.”

Tom looked chuffed to have won the challenge for his ‘lovely ridges’, getting a big thumbs up from Brymer Jones.

Following the ‘spot test’ the potters waited for their bowls to dry before trimming and painting them.

After a 13-hour day they all went home before returning two days later after their pots had been in the kiln.

The group’s final challenge was making egg cups against the clock on a potter’s wheel, with Tom winning with an impressive 36.
