What happens in episode one?

The first programme sees Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team scramble a homeless camp where a burnt body has been found.

A murder investigation is soon underway, but this is set to be one of the trickier ones, as without CCTV or witnesses the detectives have few leads to follow.

Elsewhere a woman is the victim of a petrol bomb in her own home and with the attacker on the run a full-scale manhunt is launched.

Who are the detectives?

The police officers at the heart of the stories include detective superintendent Jon Chadwick, head of the Major Incident Team, who’s leading up the investigation into the death at the homeless camp.

Later in the series DCI Sarah Jones is assigned to the case of a missing man in Bolton, but developments in the case lead detectives to fear he has come to serious harm.

When is it on?

The Detectives: Murder on the Streets airs September 20 at 9pm on BBC Two.
