The Chase star Mark Labbett proved up to his fearsome reputation after losing a big-money game on the ITV quiz show.

The pro quizzer, who goes by the nickname The Beast on the series, stormed off after he failed to stop the contestants from winning £60,000.

On the walk away from his podium, he also lashed out and punched the set as presenter Bradley Walsh looked worried.

The three players on the winning team managed to leave with £20,000 each after correctly answering more questions together than Labbett.

“Well done indeed, congratulations,” said Walsh. “You’ve outrun the Chaser, you’ve not been caught.”

Labbett – affectionately called ‘Beastie boy’ by Walsh – said well done to the winners, before getting out of his seat and striding off the set.

“It just shows you how they take it,” said Walsh, giving a deadpan look to the camera. ”They take it very badly.”

Viewers weren’t expecting such an explosive episode of the daytime quiz.

Labbett tweeted in reference to the episode, defending himself and praising the winners by saying the “best chasers get the best teams… bravo!”.
