Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg has admitted he is happy to have sealed a place in Craig Revel Horwood's "good books" with his jive on Saturday night.

The YouTube sensation and partner Dianne Buswell, who joined the show last year, performed the jive to Aha's Take On Me for their dance floor debut, scoring 27 and finishing just two points off the top of the leaderboard.

As he gave feedback, Revel Horwood admitted he had expected Sugg to struggle with dancing after catching a glimpse of the star during the launch show earlier this month - a thought the 27-year-old was happy to have proven wrong.

Chatting to Zoe Ball on spin-off show It Takes Two, Sugg said: "On the group show I was tucked away in the corner.

"So I was surprised he actually did see me at all, as I'm not the tallest of people. It's good to prove him wrong and get in his good book."

The pair revealed they will be performing the Charleston this weekend to iconic 1990s hit Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex.

Giving fans a taste of what to expect, Sugg confessed that the song's country and western style was a nod to his previous job making thatched roofs for cottages.

Sugg also joked that he already feels as if he wants to carry on dancing when the competition is over, hinting at a career change as a professional plus one.

He laughed: "I was saying that, after the show, I want to give my services at weddings to people who need a plus one.

"Go along and just dance with them at any social event."

It Takes Two airs weeknights at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
