Gemma Atkinson has been powering through Strictly Come Dancing’s gruelling rehearsal schedule by tucking into chips and curry sauce.

The radio presenter, who is a contestant on this year’s series of the BBC ballroom show, posted a picture of her post-practice treat, accompanied by the caption: “Winning.”

In the image Atkinson, who is from Bury in Manchester, appears to be sitting on the floor with the plate of chips on her lap and a bottle of beer in hand.

Keeping fans updated with her progress on the show via her social media channels, the star followed the post with a snap of herself and her professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec in costume.

In the caption, she revealed the pair would be performing a waltz in this week’s show.

It read: “So on Saturday we’re dancing The Waltz to ‘Un Giorno Per Noi’ by Josh Groban. It’s elegant, classy romantic and Sophisticated… Clearly 100% meant for me that ain’t it?? #godhelpme #GoodluckAljaz *puts down the Budweiser* [sic]”.

Last week’s episode of the dancing competition saw Atkinson and Skorjanec begin their bid for the Glitterball trophy with a Cha-Cha-Cha to ‘There’s Nothing Holding Me Back’ by Shawn Mendes.

The duo received a total score of 20 points from the judges for their efforts leaving them in 9th place on the leaderboard.

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.45pm on Saturday, September 30 on BBC One.
