Springwatch 2016: viewers amused by hilarious sexual innuendos from Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan

It was all ‘great tits’ and ‘scratching badgers’ as the nature show returned for a new series

It’s still a few months until the Great British Bake Off returns, but those who love a good innuendo have a new must-see TV destination.

The latest series of Springwatch is here, and it’s jam-packed with all kinds of double-entendres.

The show encourages viewers to keep an eye on the comings and goings of wildlife in their gardens and local areas – but despite its wholesome appearance there’s already been plenty of dodgy wordplay.

Monday night’s episode saw presenter Chris Packham stood in a forest, asking: “Great tits, great tits, wherefore art thou great tits?”

He wasn’t the only one, either – fellow host Michaela Strachan also joined in, later saying “I can scratch my own badger” following a segment on the animal, referring to the badger picture on her t-shirt.

Packham replied: “I don’t want to see you scratching your chest!”

Viewers on Twitter seemed amused by the “filth” on the otherwise largely wholesome pre-watershed nature show.

It’s not the only time Packham and Strachan have dabbled in innuendo – an episode of Winterwatch earlier this year saw Packham tease an episode by saying: “I get Michaela out of bed to show her blackcock in the flesh.”

With over a week of Springwatch left to go, who knows what gems are going to come up next?
