Crufts might have brought four days of top-tier pedigree pooches, but dog-lovers will relish the chance to see even more cute canines on the box.

Thank goodness, then, for this one-hour presentation of Scruffts – the competition for cross-breed dogs.

While Crufts is all about breeding standards, Scruffts proves that mixed pups can be just as talented.

Launched in 2000, the crossbreed competition hasn’t been around nearly as Crufts' 125 years, but the final of Scruffts now takes place at the biggest dog show in the UK.

The 2016 competition brought six different categories: Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog (6 months – 8 years), Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch (6 months – 8 years), Child’s Best Friend (6 months – 8 years), Golden Oldie Crossbreed (8 years plus), Best Crossbreed Rescue, and GCDS Crossbreed Class.

Judges were looking at entrants based on good character, health, and temperament with other dogs and people.

Despite not being as big as Crufts, there’s still an impressive amount of competition – over 1800 dogs took place in the heats, with proceeds going to charity.

Channel 4’s documentary is set to bring an inside look at the 2016 finalists – a wonderful excuse to watch loads more adorable dogs.
