Poldark is returning to screens tonight for a fourth series on the BBC.

The drama, led by Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark, has stormed to success for the channel over the years and fans had practically been counting the minutes until the series four date was released.

Ahead of tonight’s premiere, here’s everything about Poldark…

What is Poldark series four about?

The BBC drama, based on books by Winston Graham, has become something of a hit with the nation over the years. The fourth series is around the sixth book, The Four Swans, and the seventh, The Angry Tide.

Now, Ross is in Westminster – having taken a seat there to try defend Cornwall – but will be focusing a lot of his time on saving his marriage with Demelza, played by Eleanor Tomlinson, after her affair with Hugh Armitage.

Elizabeth (Heida Reed) tries to strengthen her marriage, Morwenna (Ellise Chappell) continues to be oppressed by husband Reverend Ossie Whitworth (Christian Brassington), and the Enyses (Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde) are tested as never before.

There are eight episodes in the series.

Where is Poldark filmed?

As well known, Poldark is filmed in and around Cornwall showcasing beautiful areas including Charlestown, Porthgwarra and Padstow.

When is it on?

Poldark returns to screens on Sunday 10 June at 9pm on BBC One, available shortly after on iPlayer.
