With just two weeks until the hit show returns, the latest Poldark trailer sees our hero go on trial – and to war – in Series 2.

Aiden Turner’s Ross Poldark is returning to spice up our Sunday nights in a fortnight, and this trailer hints that BBC is only upping the action for the second series of the hit period drama.

After – spoiler alert – Poldark’s arrest at the end of the last series for the murder of George Warleggan’s cousin, our Cornish hero appears to go on trial in the trailer, as he squares off against a judge.

It seems he will also face the consequences of last year’s climactic shipwreck outside of the courtroom, if brief glimpses of a duel between Poldark and his rival Warleggan are anything to go by.

But it’s not all wrath and ruin - the trailer also shows off the real breakout star of the first series; Turner’s magnificent abs.

Mixing up the format from last year’s saucy farming, this trailer offers a glimpse at the latest venture for Ross - topless mining.

Despite suggestions by writer Debbie Horsfield that the new autumnal setting would restrict opportunities for Ross to get his kit off, this trailer is as heavy on the romance as it is on the action.

It’s certainly enough to get fans hot under the collar for when the show returns on September 4.
