Netflix has released a teaser clip of Henry Cavill's dramatic transformation in The Witcher.

Cavill, who has reportedly left his Superman days behind him, will take the lead in the video game spin-off which was adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy saga.

On Wednesday, the streaming service released a costume and make-up test video showing Cavill in full suit, complete with long white hair and armour.

In the clip, he walks up to the camera and stares down the barrel of the lens before taking a swig from a vial.

The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family centring on Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter who struggles to find his place in the world.

He is thrown together with a powerful sorceress and a young princess harbouring a secret in the book, which will take the form of an eight-episode series.

Together, the trio must learn to work together and navigate their new surroundings as a team, shielding themselves from danger and its consequences.

While not much else is known about the plot, Netflix already has a placeholder page on their site for users to add to their lists, labelling the programme as “exciting” in genre.
