Nominations have been released for the National Television Awards 2023 with The Traitors’ Claudia Winkleman going up against 21-time winners Ant & Dec for best presenter.

Joel Dommett will host the event at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday, September 5 with 16 prizes up for grabs, including two new categories.

Stars are expected to line the red carpet for the awards show, which has seen some controversy in the lead-up.

Willoughby had been longlisted for the award but failed to make the shortlist alongside her former This Morning co-presenter Phillip Schofield in the wake of his resignation from ITV in May after he admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague on the show.

This Morning will also seek to defend its best daytime show title as it continues to face criticism amid the furore of the Phillip Schofield affair.

This year will also see the arrival of two new categories: TV Interview and Reality Competition.
