A brand new trailer for Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, has been released.

Giving fans a more in-depth look at Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Scottish play, the new clip dropped on Tuesday.

Following on from June’s teaser, it offers an extended look at the bloody battle scenes and an insight into the downward spiral of the central characters.

Supporting cast including Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, David Thewlis and Jack Reynor also feature more heavily.

Speaking about taking the lead role, Fassbender recently told Entertainment Weekly:

“I wasn’t seeking out to do Shakespeare at the time, when [producer] Iain Canning approached me.

“But it was one of those things. You get the opportunity to do it and there was just no way I could have said no.”

The film comes from acclaimed Australian director Justin Kurzel, behind unflinchingly gritty drama Snowtown.

Macbeth premiered at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to positive reactions from critics. It arrives in UK cinemas on October 2.
