Love Island: The villa splits into two as the lads head off to Casa Amor - and some of the 12 new arrivals look familiar

Natasha Sporn29 June 2018

In the middle of the night, the lads of Love Island upped sticks and left the villa, headed for Casa Amor and six new ladies. The girls soon got to meet some fresh faces, too.

Yes, it’s that twist once again. And the promised drama did not let us down as Jack came face-to-face with a ghost from relationships past.

Here’s the thing. It’s great that there are these twists and, let’s face it, we are living for the drama but probably the main issue is the, what looks like, hope that Dani and Jack will run into trouble when Jack meets up with his ex once more.

They’re the villa’s power couple and, yes, relationships have to face tests and go through down moments. But this down moment hasn’t just happened by chance, it’s been engineered (at least, it feels like it). Which puts a slightly sour spin on things.

Ellie scolded her former flame: "Two days before you came here. I have got a bone to pick with you. You could have left things with me a little bit different. You shouldn’t have been in contact with me two days before. If I was in your position I wouldn’t keep in contact. You could have gone about things a little bit different," to which the pen salesman sheepishly admitted she had a point.

As for the boys, the six definitely shook things up as the single female population finally felt they could get another shot at finding love while the coupled up girls decided they were going to stay loyal despite the attention.

Social media pointed out the similarities between some of the lads and the original islanders.

Charlie looked like his old namesake who got the boot with Hayley, Jordan resembled Wes and Alex and Jack had the same names as two of the first cast. It all got a bit confusing.

But they quickly started getting to know each other with Laura declaring that this was her first time as a single lady, and Megan - who just stole her man, if you needed reminding - admitting that she was happy to be in all six top three standings.

Elsewhere, Laura proved she really is a cut about the rest as she swallowed her feelings and reconciled with Megan - days after Megan stole her man and jumped into bed with him.

After admitting that she had “made progress” with her, by looking at her three whole times, she then confessed that she didn’t want to stand in the way of their happiness.

Pulling her aside, the air hostess said: “I just thought we should have a chat. I was in bed last night and I was thinking about everything. I don’t want to be bitter and jealous.

“I know it’s still early days, I know I’ve got every right to be feeling a bit uncomfortable and things like that. It was a quick turnover. But I was annoyed at him. I wasn’t actually annoyed at you.”

Megan told the Beach Hut that she is aware that other girls would have handled the whole situation “much, much worse” than Laura. Yeah, you. Anyway, Savanna fancies Wes so you may get a chance to prove yourself if it all goes wrong fast...

Still, it remains to be seen quite how long their truce lasts.

Love Island continues Friday at 9pm on ITV2.
