Love Island series four will begin on Monday 4 June, ITV has confirmed.

The popular summer show – which sees singletons look for love in a luxury villa – will kick off exactly a year after the third series did, eventually won by Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay.

Excitement is brewing among fans who tuned in in their scores last year to catch up with all the gossip, and are ready to meet the 11 new Islanders for 2018 .

The show enjoyed record high ratings last summer as the reality contestants became household names.

Earlier today, it was reported that bosses will clampdown on smoking in the villa, which is in Majorca, this year after contestants’ habits last year led to a slew of complaints to Ofcom.

According to new reports, this year’s series will take a very different approach to smoking to protect against complaints, with smoking only taking place in a designated smoking shelter – alone, so no more smoke-fuelled gossip fests.

A source told The Sun: “Last year there were more viewer complaints about the amount of smoking than anything else.

“It did feel like someone had a fag in their hand constantly last series, so hopefully viewers will notice the difference.

“It will still be filmed, but as they’ll be alone, there won’t be as many gossipy moments as last year.”

When contacted, ITV said: "There will be no smoking within the Love Island villa or the main villa garden this year."

Caroline Flack will return to host the sunshine success, posing this year as a pilot in the latest trailer.

Flack doesn’t stay at the villa, of course, but pops in regularly to deliver news of varying levels of excitement and also to kick people out.

The show's voiceover will once again be provided by Scottish comedian Iain Stirling, who was last heard commentating on the Virgin TV BAFTAs on May 13.

Love Island will return to ITV2 on Monday 4 June at 9pm on ITV2.
