With just one episode to go until the final, Dr Alex’s Love Island journey has finally flatlined – but not before Alexandra’s mum gave us one of the moments of the series.

After almost eight weeks of progressively getting redder, clashing with just about every girl in the villa and repeatedly incurring the wrath of a nation, Dr Alex was voted out of the show with former flame Alexandra after their fellow islanders left them in danger.

Up against Josh and Kaz and Paul and Laura, the Alex duo was sent packing when Caroline Flack turned up to the villa with bad news (and she's still there, for Aftersun ).

But enough of that, we must talk about Alexandra’s mum. The voice of a nation.

The meet the parents’ episode finally turned up and Alexandra’s mum had some harsh words for the lobster medic who completely messed her daughter around, savaging him with "I'm not sure which show you thought you were on!".

First, Janice – our new favourite person – told her beautiful daughter: “I’ve been trying to pull myself back from constantly feeling ‘I could kill him!’ He thought he could just drop you and pick you up at whim, and that’s not how life works.”

Then she turned her attention to Mr Pink himself, telling him he's "not nearly as red in the flesh as he is on telly".

Dr Alex already wounded, Janice went on: “When you recoupled and you seemed to expect her to be grateful, and you I think made some comment ‘what’s the matter with her, why she’s so grumpy?’”

Go on…

“What did you expect a girl to feel like after she’d been rejected and then you dained to bring her back to her side?”

YES! QUEEN!

Away from the namesake couple, Jack finally came face-to-Skype with his future father-in-law and hero Danny Dyer.

The EastEnders hardman appeared via video link from sunny Florida to compliment Dani on finding a “lovely geezer” although he confessed he had his reservations.

Dyer told him: “Look at him, look at him. Look at his little face. Do you know what Jack, listen. Proper geezer, gotta say.

“I’ll tell you what I love about you, I love the fact you got a little Derby. You got so much charisma. Takes a brave man to bowl into that gaff, them all ‘abbed up’, proper geezer. Honestly mate, we’re so over the moon.”

Awww.

Less aww more #awks, was Laura's meeting with Paul's mum and sister during which she mistook chat about a "wedding venue" as prematurely planning her's to Paul before the guy who once snogged Britney Spears pointed out that his sister was, in fact, discussing her own upcoming nuptials.

And it got worse as Laura's dad tried to get Paul to make his daughter his girlfriend. Our jaw is locked from cringing.

Love Island will conclude Monday at 9pm, live on ITV2 with the grand final.
