The identity of I’m A Celebrity's notoriously bad-tempered shopkeeper Kiosk Keith has finally been revealed.

The reality show cast member is actually a labourer and father-of-four called Raymond, who reportedly joined the programme in a behind-the-scenes role in 2002 before starting to work on camera in 2013.

His ex-wife Donna, told The Sun, that the real-life Raymond is much less grumpy than his on-screen alter-ego.

"He just thinks it’s funny. It’s just a joke. As far as he’s concerned he’s an average father who goes to work, does Kiosk Keith and goes home," she said.

"Raymond was employed in the art department - he was just a labourer and he’d done gardening and put the plants in the ground and helped build the backdrops to the some of the scenes and stuff.

"When they brought Kiosk Keith in as a character, they offered him the part. So he just doesn’t do Kiosk Keith, he still works as a labourer out there too.

"They just get him on screen when they need him to do the shack. They will radio him and say, ‘Look, we’re doing the shack now, come up’.

Grumpy shop owner Keith might not be a celebrity contestant, but he’s still one of the reality series’ biggest stars.

So much so, that when he was absent for one episode last week and replaced by Kiosk Kath, it sparked a backlash on Twitter, with fans of the show wondering where he was.

One wrote: “What in the world, what’s happened to kiosk Keith?”

While another posted: “Kiosk Kath? What is this? Where is Keith?”

Others threatened to boycott the show until he returned. “I’m going to stop watching @imacelebrity if Kiosk Keith doesn’t come back right this second,” tweeted one.

I’m A Celebrity continues Wednesday, December 6 at 9pm on ITV.
