Scarlett Moffatt broke down in tears on I’m A Celebrity as her childhood idol Danny Baker opened up about his battle with cancer.

Moffatt, 25, was overcome with emotion as Baker recalled the moment he found a lump in his neck and was forced to undergo tests.

Speaking to his campmates he said: “That was six years ago. 2010. Big old lump come up in the neck and like most blokes I thought oh that’s nothing. It’s only because people stating saying what’s that on your neck.

“I had another one about four years ago, that was just a thyroid. And they said you’ve got to take three days off work. And I said when am I going to take three days off work.

“So (then) this side starts coming up. So they said watch the other one because sometimes that goes.”

Recalling his conversation with a doctor after ignoring the lump for eight months he said: “I went into see them and I said look the other side’s gone. He said that doesn’t look like thyroid. I said you remember, you said the other side’s going to come up. Test, test, test, test, test, test. He went I’ll let you know about them in a week.”

But Baker recalled how he got home and received a call from the doctor an hour later asking him to come back to hospital and to bring someone with him.

Moffatt broke down in the Bush Telegraph and revealed she got emotional because Baker’s story reminded her of her father’s battle with cancer.

The Gogglebox star said: “I just think Danny’s so brave and like I just got very emotional because I just think cancer is awful and like obviously it affects so many families and my dad’s had it before and Danny actually reminds me weirdly of my dad because he’s got such a positive outlook on everything.

“When he was talking I was just like it weren’t tears of sadness it was tears of just how inspirational he is, just how positive he can stay and he’s just amazing. He’s just mint.”

Moffatt previously revealed that she was so happy to have Baker in the jungle camp because he was one of her favourite celebrities as a child.

Fighting back the tears on meeting the radio DJ she said: “I am living the 90s childhood dream. I just feel really overwhelmed. I’m with like Baker and [Carol] Vorderman.

“It’s just I literally watch telly for a living. That is what I do and I’m in here with like absolute legends that I am proper fan girling over. I almost feel like I don’t deserve to be here.”
