Emmerdale is going ahead with its controversial acid attack storyline, set to air on Thursday.

The episode will see Ross get caught up in the feud between the Dingles and the Tates.

As Debbie conspires with drug dealer Simon to teach Joseph Tate a lesson, she’s left unaware that her nemesis has fired Ross for secretly being in cahoots with her.

Determined to take his own revenge on Joe, Ross steals his former manager’s car. But just as he gets out of the vehicle, Simon, who mistakes him for Joe, throws acid in his face.

Ross is left screaming in pain as the episode ends.

Michael Parr, who plays the character told Digital Spy that the storyline was a "big responsibility".

"I was very nervous about taking on. I know it's a reality for some people and it's so important to get it right and do the story justice."

"The Emmerdale team have done extensive research and we really want to raise awareness of the devastating consequences an attack like this has on a person's life."

Emmerdale continues Thursday, February 8 at 7pm on ITV.
