EastEnders legend Dr Harold Legg is returning to Walford as Leonard Fenton reprises his role this autumn.
Dr Legg appeared in the very first episode of the BBC soap back in 1985, spending over 10 years as an Albert Square regular until his character retired.
Since leaving screens full-time, Fenton made cameo appearances on the programme - notably at Mark Fowler and Ethel Skinner’s funerals.
He stuck up a close friendship with Dot Cotton – played by June Brown – as he tolerated her endless ailments and acted as the voice of reason and reassurance.
On his return, the 92-year-old actor said: “I am very happy to be back at EastEnders.
“I am looking forward to working with June and the rest of the cast and crew again.”
Boss John Yorke has revealed that Fenton’s character will be back on the show for an “exciting and emotional storyline” working with Brown again.
Brown, who recently signed a new contract with the soap , said: “It's been eleven years since Dot last visited her favourite doctor, Doctor Legg.
“It's an utter delight to be working with Leonard Fenton again in 2018.”
Fenton is currently filming for the programme, with scenes to air from autumn.
Fenton is one of two characters to return to Walford this month following the news that Louisa Lytton will reprise her role as Ruby Allen in the coming months .
