Dr Alex falls spectacularly out of favour with Love Island fans as they call for him to go home

Love Island fans have finally turned on Dr Alex George and decided they would be happy to see the back of him come next dumping.

The meek medic was once the nation’s sweetheart as an army of Love Island viewers willed him to find love on the show.

After seeing him rejected by Hayley, 'friend-zoned' by Samira and had Megan snatched away from him by Eyal, an audience rejoiced as Ellie cosied up to North Wales’ finest.

But after Alex’s arrogant display during Monday night’s episode after Ellie told him she wasn’t feeling any sexual chemistry, the tables have turned and Alex is now public enemy number one.

Eyal and Adam, you can relax for now.

And it looks as if a dumping is on the way sometime this week, as teased at the end of Monday’s show, which could be perfect for fulfilling the ITV2 viewers’ wish and axing the medic.

Writing on Twitter, one person said: “I’m actually over Alex and his victim mentality. Just accept you have no sauce and go home. The NHS needs you, the girls in the villa do not. #LoveIsland.”

While another commented: “#UnpopularOpinion - I really don’t like Alex...he plays the victim card in every situation possible...I hope he goes home tonight. #LoveIsland.”

“No offense but Alex needs to leave like I was rooting for him but clearly love island is just not his thing, go home mate #LoveIsland,” scorned somebody else.

Alex saw red (to match his skin…) after Ellie revealed that she, too, was going to put him in the friendzone.

Angry: Alex George let rip at Ellie Brown - and viewers were not happy

He fumed: “You said you would make an effort, but hours after we recouple you get in the bed and you roll over. Obviously it was going to be awkward. Why didn't you say ‘I don't feel this, I feel so uncomfortable’.”

But viewers blasted him for being “self-entitled” and for “expecting” his chance at romance in the villa.

Has Alex’s support finally flatlined?

Love Island continues Tuesday at 9pm on ITV2.
