After bringing the house down at Comic-Con a few weeks ago, the first trailer for Ryan Reynolds’ new comic book film Deadpool has officially arrived online.

It’s a ‘Red-Band’ trailer, which means no holds barred on swearing and violence – much like the film itself, which will buck the PG-13 super-hero film trend for an adult-focused barrage of irreverent humour and exploding heads.

Here’s what we learned from the explicit trailer.

Deadpool: trailer breakdown - Explicit Content

1/15

Unlike the Avengers or Ant-Man, Deadpool won’t be a film to take your kids to – the Marvel comic book character is a violent anti-hero mercenary, with a permanent motor-mouth, and a tendency to break the fourth wall and directly address the readers.

Deadpool has appeared on-screen before in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though it was an extremely unfaithful take on the character, confusingly also portrayed by Ryan Reynolds – they even sewed the famously talkative character’s mouth shut. As a huge fan of the comics, Reynolds has long campaigned for a solo Deadpool film to see the character done right.

Could this be that film? It certainly looks that way.

Deadpool arrives in UK cinemas on February 5, 2016
