Danniella Westbrook thanked her “good mate” Jeremy Kyle for sending her on a three-month rehab course, giving her the chance of a “drug-free life”.

The former EastEnders actress told fans she is “grateful and excited” to go back to treatment after relapsing after 14 years.

Kyle, who has known the star for decades, paid to send Westbrook on a 10-week programme which she says will “make her strong” and cause her to “never look back”.

Revealing the news on Twitter, she wrote: “For those of you asking my good mate Jezza had me on his show which is being Aired in the morning & has kindly sent me 2 rehab for 3 months.

“I'm grateful & excited 2 have the chance 2 get the drug free life I had for 14years back. Thank u 4 ur support especially my @KJ_Artist.”

On Friday morning, Westbrook teared up as she talked about her relapse and drug-taking on the episode, admitting she had used cocaine just four days prior to the filming.

When pressed by Kyle, Westbrook explained that she was using “once a week” but confessed she would be back “taking 11 bags a day” if she had the money.

Chat show host Kyle then told his guest, who appeared on a special episode focused on fame, that he “wanted to cut the BS” and “do something unexpected”.

He told her: “I’ve known you for 20 years and I was sitting there this morning and I was thinking, I don’t want to do another interview where she tells me ‘that this person does this and does that’. I want to do what we do with every other person on this show. I want to give you an opportunity.

“I find myself this morning, I woke up, I’m reading the things, I’m thinking I’m going to damn well tell her today because all they do is blow smoke up her backside and go ‘oh it will be alright’. It won’t be alright, you will end up killing yourself.”

An emotional Westbrook replied: “I’d love to go. I’d love to go… I won’t do a runner.. I promise, one hundred percent.”
