Dancing on Ice viewers have been left "gutted" after a double eviction eliminated Jane Danson and Ryan Sidebottom from the show.

The Coronation Street star and the former England cricketer were placed in the skate off along with Melody Thornton, but ultimately failed to win over the judges, all of whom chose to save the ex-Pussycat Doll.

Viewers were quick to voice their "sadness" at the move on social media, as not all of the show's fans agreed with the judges' collective decision, with some even branding the show a "fix."

"@MelodyThornton was ALWAYS gonna get saved over @RealJaneDanson & Ryan. Totally predictable," one disgruntled Twitter user wrote.

"SERIOUSLY!!! Jane dances on her own halfway through performances yet gets the boot and Melody won't let go but goes through... IT'S A FIX!" another weighed in.

"So they put through a couple where the girl spent most of the time in the air or in hold don't know why they call it skate off fix off more like it," a third suggested.

Neither Melody or Alexander looked comfortable there, they missed out so much in that routine and she kept stumbling. Yet they were scored 31 out of 40? Total fix. They shouldn't have been scored so high for that 'performance," another added.

Last week, viewers made similar claims when TOWIE star Gemma Collins left the show, claiming that the 38-year-old reality TV personality "already knew" that she would be leaving the contest.

They also referenced a remark made by co-host Phillip Schofield in a previous episode, when he told Collins that she would have "the whole week to build back up again."

Standard Online contacted representatives for the show for comment, who said that the programme "is not fixed."

Next week's episode will see remaining contestants James Jordan, Wes Nelson, Brian McFadden, Saara Aalto and Thornton go back in time with their routines as they travel through the show's 'time tunnel.'

Dancing on Ice continues next Sunday on ITV at 6pm.
