Need a new gripping drama to get swept up in? Channel 4 are on the Case.

This Icelandic mystery is set to be a new favourite for those who have watched the entire Scandi-noir canon.

Here are five things you need to know.

1) It’s part of Channel 4’s Walter Presents series

Channel 4 is championing quality foreign dramas with its Walter Presents series – bringing the world’s best unknown TV shows to the UK.

Case is the latest one to hit our shores thanks to the mysterious Walter, following the successes of Deutschland 83, Locked Up, and Beauty and the Baker.

2) It’s in Icelandic

Don’t be shocked – yes, this Icelandic drama is in Icelandic. If you’re the sort of person who usually runs a mile at the sight of a subtitle, give it a chance – as anyone who’s delved into a Scandi-noir thriller before will attest, you forget you’re reading them within the first five minutes.

3) It’s about the death of a ballerina

As with plenty of imported dramas, Case is a murder mystery – and the victim this time is a ballerina, whose body is found at the National Theatre in Reykjavik.

Of course, there’s more to it than that – just like The Killing, the unfolding investigation sheds a light on shady areas of polite society.

4) It’s from the team behind Trapped

Last March, Icelandic murder mystery drama Trapped became a cult hit on BBC Four. Three episodes of that show were directed by Baldvin Zophoniasson, who takes the reins for Case.

5) It’s all online

If you enjoy Episode 1 of Case, there’s good news – the entire series will be available in full on All4 to stream at your leisure (aka binge as quickly as possible).

Like other Walter Presents dramas, it’s only the first episode which is being aired traditionally on TV – so you’ll need to watch the rest on an internet-connected device.
