The auditions continued tonight on Britain’s Got Talent as the competition provided an extra shine to the Bank Holiday weekend.

While there weren’t any golden buzzers, there was plenty for the judges to get excited about from singers to comedy acts. One act even left the room completely baffled as more and more performers starting appearing from under cloaks over props.

And, sadly, the red buzzers were called into action a few times as several performers failed to hit the ground running in series 13.

Here are our five must-see auditions from episode five…

A&J: The duo wowed the room with their act
Syco / Thames

Rob King

The 28-year-old, from Manchester, traded his day job at The Lowry for a spot on the stage - for one day only - as he belted out Conchita’s Eurovision classic Rise Like A Phoenix, the song that won the contest for Austria several years ago.

A standing ovation. Four yeses. Simon Cowell compared it to a “movie” after seeing Rob finally get his shot on stage after years of watching in the wings.

Jay Rawlings

Jay, 25, came on stage with an ambition to break a bizarre Guinness World Record for chairs balanced on his chin - setting his target as 11, to overtake the current entry of nine. Overseeing his attempt was Mark, the adjudicator often seen on Sky One’s A League Of Their Own.

Helpfully, ITV felt the need to point out viewers shouldn’t try this at home so, if you’re on your way to collect the kitchen furniture, please don’t.

Four yeses and one World Record for Jay.

Graeme Mathews

The comedy performer had everyone in stitches from the moment he stepped out on stage with his infectious personality. And it just got better from there with his jokes and tricks, one of which involved Amanda Holden and a “magic water dance”…

Four yeses and a heap of praise for the 34-year-old.

Duo A&J

Julia and Alex, from Coventry and Ukraine respectively, wowed with their acrobatic tricks and how graceful they looked soaring across the stage, putting trust in each other. There aren’t even words to describe watching this act, they were unlikely anything seen on the show in a long time, which is what it’s all about.

Four yeses, especially giant one from David Walliams who was lifted up at the end of the act.

Iconic

Masquerading as a sweet all-female dance group at first, it soon become clear that Iconic were an incredible dance troupe with a key ear for superstar music. From Madonna to the Spice Girls to Queen, there was something for everyone in the high-energy routine.

Four yeses.
