After thousands of auditions and a solid week of semi-finals featuring 45 acts, the winner of Britain’s Got Talent is Jules O’Dwyer and her adorable dog Matisse.

The pair truly stole the show in their live final performance, which cast Matisse as a ‘sausage-thief’ and Jules as a police officer tracking him down. The routine brought together comedy, high-wire skills as Matisse crossed a tightrope, and an emotional reveal, as it turned out Matisse had only stolen the sausages to feed a three-legged homeless dog.

The pair came out top dog after four and a half million votes were cast, cruising ahead of magician Jamie Raven who took second place, and Welsh choir Cor Glanaethwy who finished third.

In their first audition, Jules and Matisse wowed the judges with their impeccable communication and control, as Jules played a dog-catcher whose every move was evaded by Matisse.

In the semi-finals, the duo delivered another knock-out performance with Jules as a toy-maker who wound up Matisse with a key and oiled his joints to make him work properly.

The duo beat off stiff competition, with Jamie Raven wowing the judges by producing a bank note from the middle of a lemon, and Cor Glanaethwy delivering a stunning rendition of Hallelujah.

The night wasn’t without controversy – though singer Calum Scott was one of the favourites to win, he placed sixth after forgetting the words to Rihanna’s Diamonds during the live show.

Here’s how the finalists places in descending order:

12) Boyband
11) Entity Allstars
10) UDI
9) The Neales
8) Jesse-Jane McParland
7) Danny Posthill
6) Calum Scott
5) Isaac Waddington
4) Old Men Grooving
3) Cor Glanaethwy
2) Jamie Raven
1) Jules O’Dwyer and Matisse
