If last year’s X Factor seemed to be somewhat of a sinking ship, the new series of Britain’s Got Talent is as waterproof as ever.

Remaining afloat for its tenth anniversary year, BGT sails along confidently on a wave of did-that-really-just-happen weirdness, with some of the most jaw-dropping acts the show has ever seen.

From a new favourite dog act, to a musical ‘super-hero’, and one act that made the entire audience scream in unison, here are the five must-see acts you might have missed in Episode 1.

Vitaly Voronko

How do you kick off the brand new series? How about a yellow lycra-clad ‘super-hero’ who plays dodgy accordion covers of Michael Jackson and Under The Sea from The Little Mermaid before he’s even told the judges his name?

EliteSquad Royalz

Expect plenty of snappy dance acts like this in the coming weeks, but these young beefeaters deserve an extra nod for the tiny Queen at their centre.

Trip Hazard the Dog

After Matisse was top dog in 2015, the nation will be keenly looking out for their new canine favourite – and Pomeranian / Maltese cross Trip Hazard could be it. The tiny pooch leaps joyously off owner Lucy’s foot – it’s impossible not to smile while watching them.

Bonus point for Simon’s quip: “Just to be clear, there’s only of them yeah?”

Beau Dermott

The first Golden Buzzer act of the series is the stunningly talented young singer Beau, who belts out Wicked hit Defying Gravity like a classic diva, despite only being 13.

Alexandr Magala

This is the one you really need to see – the 26 year-old former winner of Russia’s Got Talent, who takes his sword-swallowing act to ever jaw-dropping levels of ridiculousness. You’ll watch it through your fingers, but you won’t be able to look away.
