After challenging groups of men and women to fend for themselves in reality survival series The Island, Bear Grylls is about to take on a whole new demographic.

The survival expert, and current Chief Scout, will be teaching wilderness skills to a group of children aged 12-15 for new CITV show Survival School, tasking the intrepid explorers with camping out in the Welsh mountains for two weeks.

The show will see the kids making fire and building shelters, crossing rivers, and abseiling as they’re forced to look out for themselves and each other in the great outdoors.

“Young people at heart are so often the greatest of adventurers: determined, focussed, resourceful and team players. This series will test and develop all these qualities in spades,” says Grylls. “These kids need to be prepared for hardship and blisters, but by the end they will have achieved a pride that only sweat and endeavour can buy. Hold tight for the adventure of a lifetime!”
