The Young Vic’s critically-acclaimed production of Death of a Salesman is set to transfer to the West End this autumn.

Wendell Pierce and Sharon D Clarke will reprise their lead roles in the revival of Arthur Miller’s play, which opens at the Piccadilly Theatre in October.

Co-directed by Marianne Elliott and Miranda Cromwell, the play garnered many five star reviews, including from the Standard’s Henry Hitchings who called the production ‘fresh, compassionate and ultimately devastating’.

Pierce, best known for his roles in The Wire and Suits, is making his UK theatre debut as Willy Loman. After winning an Olivier for her performance in Caroline, or Change, Sharon D Clarke plays his wife Linda. The full cast is yet to be announced.

The play follows an ageing salesman Willy Loman and his family, as they all attempt to navigate his crippling fears, declining mental health and illusions about each of their own lives.

Joining Elliott and Cromwell on the creative team are Anna Fleischle with design, Aideen Malone doing lighting, Carolyn Downing on sound and Femi Temowo as musical director.

Tickets for the transfer go on sale on Thursday June 13, with 200 tickets available at £15 for each performance. It will run from October 24 to January 4, 2020.

The initial run, which also stars Arinzé Kene and Martins Imhangbe continues until July 13 at the Young Vic and has sold out.
