Steps star and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Faye Tozer is set to join the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Tozer will take over the part of the schoolteacher Miss Hedge from ex-Emmerdale and Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon from May 6 to August 3.

She joins Layton Williams, who is playing the lead role of Jamie New until January 2020.

Tozer began her theatre career starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s one-woman musical Tell Me on a Sunday in 2004, and has since appeared in Me & My Girl, Singin’ in the Rain and Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens.

The musical is based on the true story of a young boy who wants to go to his school prom in a dress. It has music by The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie Sells and a book and lyrics by Tom MacRae.

Jonathan Butterell directs, with design by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Kate Prince, lighting by Lucy Carter and musical direction by Theo Jamieson.
