Anyone who works for the NHS will get a free pair of tickets for any performance (subject to availability, of course). All they have to do is show up at the box office 30 minutes before the performance starts and show their NHS card.
Rice said she wanted to make the gesture as a passionate supporter of the NHS and its employees.
Her critically acclaimed stage version of the classic 1945 film reopens in the West End tonight after almost ten years away. The show helped put her company, Kneehigh, on the map, mixing live theatre with music and film, and is now being staged in the specially created Empire Cinema Theatre on the Haymarket.
Since the show first opened, Kneehigh have created a number of other successful productions, and Rice has worked as the artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe. Last year, she launched new company Wise Children, who will be company-in-residence at the Old Vic.
