Comedy choice

FRIDAY CHOICE

Dominic Holland He's middleclass and middle England, but don't let that put you off. Holland is one of the sharpest stand-ups around when it comes to nailing down everyday absurdities from schooldays to parenthood. Contrasting support comes from freewheeling maverick Boothby Graffoe and deadpan John Mann.

Headliners, Chiswick High Road, W4 (020 8428 0124), 8.30pm, £10.

SATURDAY CHOICE

Noel Fielding The high-heeled, rock'n'roll half of the Boosh returns to the circuit following his Perriernominated Edinburgh show. For surreal flights of fancy and offbeat tales of angel fish Fielding is your man. Animation maestro Howard Read and glamour-puss Harriet Bowden support.

East Dulwich Comedy at the Mag, 211 Lordship Lane, SE22 (020 8855 4067) 9pm, £8, concs £5.

SUNDAY CHOICE

Ria Lina - One Night Stand In Covent GardenThis rising star certainly has the half-German, half-Filipino ukelele-playing novelty-act market sewn up, but behind the gimmicks the innocent-looking Lina also has a lacerating wit, undercutting expectations of sweetness and light with blushingly rude songs.

Retox Bar, Russell Street, WC2 (07815 798159) 7pm, £3, NUS free.

MONDAY CHOICE

Mark Thomas These days Thomas is better known as an investigative TV journalist than a stand-up, but he gets back to his stage roots here with a Monday night residency, mixing the polemical agenda with more straightforward user-friendly punchlines.

Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, W1 (020 7478 0100), 8pm, £10, concs £5.

TUESDAY CHOICE

Rory Bremner TV's missing link between Dead Ringers and Mike Yarwood takes his immaculate voices - minus prosthetics - onstage. Bremner is brilliant at capturing celebrity tics, though maybe his Paddy Ashdown is past its sell-by date. Johns Bird and Fortune add heavyweight satirical ballast.

Albery Theatre, St Martin's Lane, WC2 (020 7369 1730), 8pm, £16-£36.50.

WEDNESDAY CHOICE

Robert Newman More agitprop in W1. His latest show, From Caliban To The Taliban - 500 Years of Humanitarian Intervention, is astute stuff, though some advance reading might help fans appreciate the neo-globalist gags.

Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, W1 (020 7478 0100), 8pm, £10, concs £5.

THURSDAY CHOICE

Hal Cruttenden This polished comic specialises in the comedy of masculinity, tackling what it means to be a sensitive man.

Barcode Below, 3-4 Archer Street, W1 (020 8341 1341)
