Two brothers have ended up sharing the stage in The Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon after the production was hit when an actor broke his shoulder.

Gabriel Vick, who plays the band’s assistant manager Robert Wace, was injured while cycling when he was hit by a car and has been told it will take weeks to recover.

Although an understudy stepped in, director Edward Hall feared the show could be left short if another cast member fell ill. He has now recruited Dominic Tighe, 32, who previously played Wace and whose brother Charlie, 34, plays the band’s other manager, Grenville Collins.

Dominic, 32, stepped back into the role in the Evening Standard and Olivier Award-winning show at the Harold Pinter Theatre last Thursday after less than two hours of rehearsals. He said: “We’ve never shared a stage before, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. I’m sure there will be some sibling rivalry and I wonder if that will come across.

“Our parents have seen us both of us in the show, but now we’re in it together I suppose they will have to make another trip. As an actor, you have the ability to forget your lines as soon as you finish a role, but they’re still lurking somewhere in your brain — or at least that’s what I hope.”
