Abi to make West End debut

Abi Titmuss: set for her stage debut
10 April 2012

Abi Titmuss has signed up to make her West End stage debut - in an Arthur Miller play

The 29-year-old ex-nurse, who shot to fame as TV presenter John Leslie's girlfriend, will play a prostitute called Angie in the play Two-Way Mirror.

Miller wrote Elegy for a Lady and Some Kind of Love Story, which were produced together under the title Two-Way Mirror in 1983, for two actors.

Abi will star alongside American actor Jay Benedict in the play at Covent Garden's Courtyard Theatre.

She said she was terrified about making her stage debut in the psychological drama.

"It's been a lifelong ambition of mine to star in a play in the West End so this is a dream come true for me and I feel humbled to have been given this opportunity to perform in an Arthur Miller play.

"Two-Way Mirror is the most beautiful play I've ever read and I can't wait to get on stage and bring it to life - I feel a mixture of sheer joy and absolute terror."

Two-Way Mirror is described as a "sexually-charged, rarely performed play, based on illusion and the power of desire".

The play about complicated relationships is thought to have been inspired by Miller's real-life relationship with Marilyn Monroe.

American playwright Miller died in February last year and was famous for plays like Death of a Salesman and his marriage to Monroe.

Pin-up Abi, who appeared in Celebrity Love Island and has done some acting training in previous years, has already started rehearsing for the play.

The 90-minute play will be directed by Mike Miller, who was named Best Director in the 2005 London Fringe Reports Awards.

Benedict was in the Aliens films, The Russia House, and Saving Grace.

Director Miller said: "Given the events of her extraordinary life, and as a modern day icon, Abi was born to play the part of Angie.

"Once again Abi will surprise the public with a different facet to her luminous talents."
